[In his 1959 book My Philosophical Development Bertrand Russell makes it clear that the anti-metaphysics of Hume is very much alive in modern philosophy. Russell also draws attention, in his inimitable way, to its implausibility.] The accusation of metaphysics has become in philosophy something like the accusation of being a security risk in the public service.
